Managing Tags
Tags provide a flexible way to label and categorise your events, accounts, and other records. Unlike types and statuses, tags are freeform — you can create as many as you need and apply multiple tags to a single record.
Getting There
Navigate to Settings > Other tab > Tags.
Overview
The Tags page shows all your defined tags in a paginated list. From here you can create new tags, edit existing names, and delete tags you no longer need.
How To...
Create a Tag
- Click Create.
- Enter the tag Name.
- Click Save.
The new tag is immediately available for use across EventWorks.
Edit Tags
- Click Edit to open the batch edit view.
- Update tag names as needed.
- Click Save.
Delete a Tag
- Click Delete next to the tag.
- Confirm the deletion.
The tag is removed from all records it was applied to.
Note: Deleting a tag simply removes it — no reassignment is needed. Records that had the tag will continue to function normally, just without that tag.
Key Concepts
Tags vs Types — Types (event types, account types, etc.) are structured categories where each record belongs to exactly one type. Tags are more flexible — you can apply multiple tags to a single record, and they're useful for cross-cutting categories that don't fit neatly into a single classification. Using tags for filtering — Once you've tagged your records, you can filter lists by tag to quickly find related items.Tips & Best Practices
Tip: Keep tag names short and consistent. Decide on a naming convention (e.g. all lowercase, no special characters) and stick to it so tags are easy to search and filter.
Tip: Periodically review your tags and clean up any that are no longer used. This keeps the tag list manageable and avoids confusion.
