Invoices & Payment History
The History section at the bottom of the Billing page is a full record of every invoice, payment, and credit applied to your account. You can download invoices, see when payments were collected, and drill into the usage that made up each invoice.
Getting There
- Go to Settings > Billing
- Scroll to the History section
What's in the Table
Each row in the history table shows:

| Type | Invoice, Payment, or Credit. |
| Reference | The reference number for the transaction (e.g. invoice number, payment reference). |
| Date | The date the transaction was recorded. |
| Amount | The total amount in GBP. |
| View invoice | Opens the PDF invoice in a new tab. Shown for invoice rows only. |
| View usage | Opens the daily licence count for the month the invoice covers. Shown for invoice rows only. |
Rows are ordered newest first. Use the pagination controls at the bottom of the table to view older transactions.
Downloading an Invoice
- Find the invoice in the History table
- Click View invoice
- The invoice opens as a PDF in a new tab — save or print it from your browser
Tip: Invoices are also emailed to the address on your Billing Details when they're generated. If you can't find an emailed invoice, you can always re-download it here.
Viewing the Usage Behind an Invoice
Each invoice is calculated from the daily licence counts for the month it covers. To see those daily counts:
- Find the invoice in the History table
- Click View usage
- The Usage page opens, showing a row per day with the number of licences active that day, plus the monthly average
This is useful for checking the user numbers if an invoice looks unexpected, or for reconciling the bill with internal records.
Transaction Types
- Invoice — money you owe, generated monthly from your usage
- Payment — money you've paid, either by Direct Debit collection or a manual payment
- Credit — money credited back to your account (e.g. after a refund or correction)
The running balance isn't shown directly on the page — your most recent invoice is the best place to see what's currently owed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: An invoice in the table doesn't have a "View invoice" link. Why?A small number of older transactions may not have an attached PDF. If you need a copy of an invoice that's missing a link, contact your account manager.
Q: I paid by Direct Debit — where does the payment show up?A Payment row appears in the history once GoCardless has successfully collected the funds, typically a few days after the collection date.
Q: How do I see only invoices, not payments?The history table doesn't have a filter, but invoices, payments, and credits are clearly marked in the Type column.
Q: Can I export the full history?There's no built-in export — contact your account manager if you need a statement covering a longer period.
